IONS founder, Apollo 14 astronaut and 6th man to walk on the moon, Captain Edgar D. Mitchell, experienced what came to be known as “The Overview Effect” while viewing Earth from space. He described having an epiphany, an expanded awareness of self and a direct experience of Oneness, that he believed foreshadowed a new wave of evolution in human consciousness — one based on unity rather than separation.
